2019, Milan, Italy

T

he renovation concerns a 180 square meter apartment in Milan. The house had a dated internal subdivision with dark and very divided rooms. Customers (a family with two children) wanted bright rooms with a large kitchen. The philosophy behind the project was therefore to open the spaces to natural light by reducing hallways and dividing walls.

The living area is mainly reduced to a single large living room-kitchen area which, if necessary, can be divided by sliding glass doors and which enjoys a double north east – south west exposure ideal at any time of the day.

In the bathrooms, too, we tried to privilege natural light: in the master one, using the two windows that open in the washbasin area and in the shower area, in the adjacent one (for the children), creating a large transom window in satin glass.

Particular attention was also given to the study of artificial light and indirect lighting with the use of luminous grooves around the perimeter of the living room and with the use of LEDs in the custom-made furniture in the living room and in the plasterboard niches of the hallway of the area. night.

The materials used meet environmental sustainability criteria such as parquet made of wood coming exclusively from selected forests.
